In our opinion, Casa Jondal is the undoubted star of Ibiza’s thriving beach restaurant scene. Diners experience a winning combination of exceptional food and excellent location while seated on a shaded terrace beneath twisting Sabina trees. Service, like the delicious dishes, can’t be faulted. It’s hardly surprising that the restaurant consistently gains rave reviews, firmly placing Casa Jondal as the island’s premier place for lunch.
Not surprisingly, given Casa Jontal’s beach location, seafood dominates the restaurant’s menu. Lovers of raw dishes may choose from oysters, either with herb oil, finger lime and grapefruit or with acid apple, ginger and celery, red prawn carpaccio or clams with bay leaves and lemon vinaigrette. Sauté dishes include mussels in spicy ‘marinera’, razor clams with sherry wine and garlic and langoustine with garlic, fried eggs and fries.
Among other dishes from the sea, grilled scallops in ‘brown butter’ sauce with baby onions, whole grilled lobster with garlic, fried stingray with ‘Santalucar’ dressing and deep fried scorpion with corn ‘tortillas’, tartar sauce and ‘pico de gallo’ are firm favourites. Carnivores are not forgotten, as the menu finds room for ‘rubia gallega’ beef cured like ham, grilled Iberian pork tenderloin, ‘moralejos’ grilled suckling lamb chops in garlic, and marinated and grilled free-farm chicken. Raw, fried, boiled and cured caviar dishes feature prominently among the ‘Specials’.
