In Conversation With…
Impressed by our experience on JOALI, we wanted to learn more about its new sister island. So on our first visit to JOALI BEING we sat down (on a pristine beach under luxuriant palms) with the Resort Manager and posed some questions on behalf of Lucibello travellers.
Graeme Freeman speaks from experience, as he holds a Masters Certificate in Hospitality from Cornell University and he’s managed resorts in Bali, Thailand and the Maldives. Most recently, he was Resident Manager at Six Senses Laamu in the Maldives.
Our beautiful arrival jetty, known as The Gate of Zero, is the point at which true contemplation becomes possible. It’s the grounding spot for guests’ entry to the resort – they can release all their stresses, tension, worries, concerns – anything they may have in their day-to-day lives – they start from a zero point. It’s a liberation of the soul, unshackled by ego. A space to converse with the self.
Our amazingly diverse guests include individuals, couples, mothers and daughters and groups of friends. What they all have in common is an interest in wellbeing and a wish to enjoy the experience of an ultra-luxury Maldivian resort.
Focused as an ‘adult wellbeing retreat’, this summer for the first time ever during the months of June, July and August, JOALI BEING is taking young ones between the ages of 6 and 12 on an adventure filled with joy, friendship and learning. At this unique retreat, young explorers will discover the best of nature and holistic wellbeing. The JOALI BEING way of life is centred around self-discovery and growth, giving them a chance to learn more about themselves and the world around them.
Every individual is unique. We create wellbeing experiences tailored to individual lifestyles and goals – every person will have a uniquely curated path that we take them on. Our Immersion Programmes can be tailored to areas of strength and vitality, mental clarity and wellbeing, hormonal balance, women’s health, digestive and weight rebalance, restorative sleep, as well as movement and alignment for good health and immunity.
Our aim is for guests to return home renewed, uplifted, and inspired with a sense of ‘weightlessness’.
The wellbeing of the individual is as equally important to us as the wellbeing of all that applies around us. The retreat has been built using biophilic design principles, integrating architecture and design with nature, to achieve harmony and enhance energy flow, with additional focus also placed on the wellbeing of our island environment, our diverse marine life and ocean, as well as our host community.
OUR TREATMENT ROOMS ARE TRANSFORMATIONAL SPACES. DESIGNED TO BE INVENTIVE AND INSPIRING, THEY ENHANCE THE OVERALL WELLBEING JOURNEYS OF GUESTS, AID IN THE HEALING AND RENEWAL PROCESSES AND PROVIDE OPPORTUNITIES FOR REFLECTION, MOVEMENT AND GROWTH.

Of course. The Discovery Sound Path is a palm-fringed trail leading to SEDA, our sound therapy oasis. Along the way, nine unique instruments resonate with the natural rhythms of the island, giving guests the opportunity to restore their inner balance through vibrations and sounds. Our sound healing remedies can help to regenerate and energise, release mental tension, harmonise emotions, balance sleeping patterns and promote feelings of grounding and inspiration.
Our curated offerings are built upon the four pillars of Mind, Skin, Microbiome and Energy. Mind is about cultivating contentment and peace of mind through sound therapy and mind and body practices. Skin is how we Illuminate the skin with rejuvenating therapies that draw equally from ancient rituals and the world’s most advanced research. Microbiome forms a deeper understanding of the connection between body, mind and nutrition while building eating habits around the circadian rhythm. And Energy rebalances the nervous system and optimise energy flow through intelligent movement practices and restorative therapies.

Within Flow, our restaurant, we have three show kitchens with an abundance of choices – all the nutritional information is highlighted. We also have a beautiful culinary learning centre, set up in MasterChef style, where people can join cooking classes and see all the offerings we have.
For sunset seekers, there is Mojo – our tropical beach sanctuary located on a three-layered sundeck and is an ideal lunch and sundowner spot by the pool.
We can cater for off-menu requests as well and arrange special destination dining at numerous locations around the island.
